Z Academy

Building Tomorrow’s Talent, Today.

Z Academy is our approach to recruiting the next generation of talent for Y&R in partnership with some of the world’s best design and digital marketing schools.

Z Academy offers apprenticeships that match talents of recent graduates with executives all around the global network and across all our departments and disciplines. The infusion of these digital natives into the agency results in a fabulous cross-pollination of experience with the most current digital expertise.

Z Apprentices work full-time positions on real work, with clients and as members of client teams.

Participants are required to commit for a minimum of three months.

The Y&R Difference

At Y&R, people come first. In fact, they are everything.

Because people are the heart and soul of our business, we look for those who fit our DNA, understand our culture, and bring something to it.  People who have fire in their belly and fun in their heart.  People who are self-starters.  People who get the concept of “team.”  People who have a love of learning, a desire to share what they know and the wisdom to feed their curiosity.

But for all that we ask of our people, we believe in giving back even more.  By making it our responsibility to make people better.  By helping them unleash their passion, harness their talents and follow their dreams.

Y&R’s commitment to people is demonstrated through long-term career planning, timely evaluations, constant training and opportunities, as well as reward for success.  Our open culture means that junior and senior people tackle challenges side-by-side and learn from each other. This is why Y&R’s people have a phenomenal respect for each other, loyalty to our clients and a love of the agency that makes what they do not simply a career, but a calling.

Ben Coulson

Chief Creative Officer, Australia/NZ

1. Where do you get your inspiration?

Pretty much anywhere but my desk.

2. What is the most exciting project you've worked on at Y&R?

I'm not a "favorite project" sort of a guy. Generally I don't like conversations about something we made in the past. Present and future work is always more exciting to talk about.

3. If you had only one superpower, what would it be?

The power to transport myself to an empty beach with a 3 foot wave and an Esky of cold beer. Maybe a topless beach.

4. Innovation is ___

Hard, but always rewarding.

5. What makes you most proud to work at an advertising agency?

I love the crazy, sometimes impossible, cryptic crossword puzzle of solving problems with great ideas.

Nicolas Favier

New Business Director, Y&R Paris

1. Where do you get your inspiration?

From people. What they say, what they express, how they react, their silence, their humour…

Talking with people, listening to and watching them, is for me the most relevant way to find and produce ideas when you work in advertising.

2. What is the most exciting project you’ve worked on at Y&R?

Probably winning Meccano (a toy brand) because we entered the wonderful world of children, and when you are a father of two kids, you don’t feel like it's work, you feel like a genie in the lamp trying everything to understand them and make them dream…

3. If you had one and only one superpower, what would it be?

The power to stop time anytime.

4. Innovation is ____

A bright idea that proves we are alive and we are never totally satisfied.

"Reasonable people adapt themselves to the world. Unreasonable people attempt to adapt the world to themselves. All progress, therefore, depends on unreasonable people." - George Bernard Shaw

5. What makes you proud to work at an advertising agency?

Probably the client’s call at the end of the day to inform you the agency won the pitch in a brilliant way…
