Etienne Forbes Heads to Europe on Fulbright Scholarship

Aug 08, 2018

Etienne Forbes, Y&R HR Apprentice, will be heading to Europe this fall as a recipient of the coveted Fulbright Scholarship. Etienne, who came to us through our long-standing partnership with the CCNY program, has been an incredible addition to the HR team at Y&R and we are proud to celebrate his latest achievement. He will be attending Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in pursuit of a master’s in science in culture, organization and management and will focus his graduate research on Y&R Europe’s offices.

Etienne’s long-term goal is to pursue a PhD in education and become a college professor. His research areas of interest are diversity, inclusion and educational equity.

Because of his fearless experiences, Etienne is able to approach situations with an open mind and the ability to lead across teams.

Following his internship with Y&R, he saw the opportunities to work with offices around the globe. He has long been passionate about cultures, and Y&R footing around the world was a perfect opportunity to expand his research. “Transitioning from the New York office into the global team was awesome. I love having the opportunity to see how the city itself moves and get a closer view as to how Y&R translates from office to office,” said Etienne.

As a U.S. Navy veteran and Colin Powell Fellow, Etienne’s unconventional and incredible career path has afforded him many insights. “The military taught, redefined and hammered that you have to work with people and get along with them because you never get to choose who you work with and what projects you work on,” he said. Because of his fearless experiences, Etienne is able to approach situations with an open mind and the ability to lead across teams.

Fulbright Scholars are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement and demonstrated leadership potential in their fields.
